Whenever Dua Lipa’s in Versace, you can always expect a jaw-dropping statement on the red carpet. Remember last year’s Grammy Awards when she stunned everyone in a sheer pastel ʙuттerfly gown? Case closed! Fast forward to today’s ceremony, and the pop star did a full 180 from her 2021 look, while still rocking the famed fashion house.
Dua first switched things up with her tresses, going blonde again after having worn her slicked-back, jet-black look for so long. Her ‘fit, of course, was in accordance with her new sultry bombshell image.
Her LBD featured a sheer bustier locked together by leather straps and gold buckles. If there’s any question what fashion house Dua repped for the event, just look towards her neck and left wrist. On them were a bevy of lustruous chains, buckles, and medallions showcasing Versace’s iconic Medusa emblem.
Any fashion enthusiast out there would probably be able to clock from what era the frock came from. FYI, it’s a vintage piece plucked straight out of the label’s 1992 Miss S&M collection. The iconic ‘fit has been worn by everyone, from Cindy Crawford and Beyonce, to Donatella Versace herself when she attended the Met Gala nearly 30 years ago.
Later in the evening, Dua appeared on cam with her Sweetest Pie collaborator Megan Thee Stallion. The two cheekily gave a nod to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey‘s “diva-off” moment in the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, when they both wore similar ensembles. Both of which, to no one’s surprise, were from Versace.
The heiress of the fashion house walked on stage herself to “re-dress” the two, tearing off their maxi-skirts to reveal sultrier cuts laid against their latex leggings.
