Earlier this month, Megan revealed in an interview with People that her children all attend a vegan school, as its values align with her own.
‘We send them to an organic, sustainable, vegan school where they’re seed-to-table, they plant their own food. They grow it, they harvest it and they take it to local restaurants to sell it, so they understand how all of that works,’ she explained.
‘I’m very specific about harming animals,’ she continued. ‘We don’t step on ants; we don’t do things like that. We don’t rip flowers out of the ground, because we think they’re beautiful. I teach them that plants are sentient beings — they have feelings, thoughts and emotions — so that’s what we’re doing.’
Despite their best intentions, it’s not always possible for her family to lead a life completely free of harm to animals.
‘My son accidentally stepped on a roly-poly once and he was devastated, and we had a full funeral for it,’ she said. ‘We did a ceremony, we buried it, we lit sage, we released him back. So they’re very involved.’

Megan and her Beverly Hills, 90210 star husband first began dating shortly after his 2004 guest appearance on her ABC sitcom Hope & Faith.
She has previously recounted that he was initially hesitant about starting a relationship considering their age difference: he was 30 while she was only 18.
Yet she wore him down, and the couple were engaged in 2006. Their relationship has been tumultuous, and they reportedly broke off their engagement in 2009 before renewing it a year later.
They married on the island of Maui in 2010, but Megan and Brian announced a separation in August 2015, and she filed divorce shortly afterward. The couple reunited the following year, before announcing her pregnancy with their third child.
In addition to their three children together, Brian shares a 17-year-old son Kᴀssius with his former partner and 90210 co-star Vanessa Marcil.
