Gigi Hadid literally shone on the red carpet of tonight’s Met Gala. The model arrived solo, wearing a silver Michael Kors Collection jumpsuit with a custom hat made for her by Stephen Jones. Ahead of her appearance at the Upper East Side event, Hadid used three sparkle emojis to tease what her look would be like. She had her second fitting for the look last Friday.

Jones explained the inspiration behind the hat to ELLE.com. “For Gigi’s hat, I wanted to create the ultimate glamorous hat and so we used a similar shape to the hats I made for Michael’s last show but we of course covered it in glitter!” he said. “There has to be some sparkle on the red carpet.”

Hadid went to last year’s Met Gala solo and had a moment with Selena Gomez there. Hadid’s gown that year was modeled off of a stained glᴀss window for the Gala’s Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination theme.

And she went to the 2016 Met Gala with her then-boyfriend Zayn Malik. He accessorized with a robotic arm; she wore a grey gown with a silver bodice:

Hadid is currently single. She and Malik reportedly ended their relationship in early November. But Malik has made it clear that he still thinks the world of Hadid. “She is the most amazing woman I’ve ever know,” he wrote on April 4 to a Twitter user who speculated that he was throwing shade at her in a previous tweet. “And does nothing but love and support me when lord knows I don’t deserve it.”

A source told Us Weekly at the end of March that the former couple “still talk. She still has feelings for him, of course, but he has major issues and she knows they aren’t compatible. She’s still very single.” The report came shortly after Malik tweeted that he loved Hadid on Twitter, sparking reconciliation hopes among the couple’s fans.
